Margaret Zhang. Director

The director, Margaret Zhang, is a certified Montessori teacher and was awarded her Early Childhood Credentials from the American Montessori Society. Based on her education and experience, the Maryland State Department of Education qualifies her to be a center director for 60 or more children. 

 

Mrs. Zhang got her M.S. degree in consumer economics from the University of Maryland in College Park. She worked as an economist at the U.S. Department of Labor for several years and then as a computer specialist and senior system integrator at various private companies. She has taught in local Chinese schools for over ten years, and has received the Outstanding Teacher Award every year. She is also an amateur musician. All of these experiences enable her to bring superior teaching methods, richness, and variety to her program.

Shengyong Zhou

Her husband, Shengyong (Joe) Zhou, has been an early childhood professional since August 2003. He, along with Ms. Zhang, designed the musical program for young children.

 

Mr. Zhou is a locally famous musician. He has been invited many times to perform as a soloist or as part of orchestras at the Kennedy Arts Center, Strathmore Arts Center, and many federal, state and local government agencies, including the U.S. Department of Labor, NOAA, NIST, the State of Maryland and Montgomery County. In February 2008, Mr. Zhou was invited to perform at the Department of Labor by Ms. Elaine Chao, Secretary of Labor.
